Conversation about voting.
Suggestions from Voting Discussion voiced at KUUF’s 4/25/2021 Sunday Service led by Rev Dick Dutton and Roger Wells:
- democracy requires telling the truth
- we need a code of ethics
- winning is not an ethic
- no fraud in last election
- every State needs a bi-partisan commission to set Districts, to avoid gerrymandering and favoritism
- need universal ID, maybe given at birth
- enough voting places, longer hours, easier access
- uniform rules across States
- identification thru Post Office, or Social Security
- Congress spends ½ time raising money
- Citizens United should be overturned
- $10,000 limits by individuals or corporations
- “term limits” for congress, Supreme Court
- fear of white people
- reduce voting opportunity will favor Republicans
- national holiday for federal elections
- build Trust…Dem invite Rep for breakfast
